Name of Blog: The Life and Times of Malady

Name of Blogger: Kirsten

Blogging since: August 2007

Number of followers today: 118

Average number of ppm (posts per month): 5

What the Blog is about: I don't know any other bloggers who are doing what Kirsten does.  This is not a blog, it's a "blogtoon."  Each post is a cartoon that illustrates the hilarity and pathos of motherhood and being a licensed massage therapist.   A post called "Geography" features a map of the United States.  An arrow on Portland denotes, "exhausted mom, over-worked dad, sick kid."  Arrows pointing to New Jersey and Florida indicate "free babysitting."  Posts are well drawn in a straight-forward style, with great use of color.  The writing is always on par with the art.  The Life and Times of Malady is the perfect intersection of artistic talent, humor and language.

Number of followers today: 25

Average number of ppm (posts per month): 11

What the Blog is about: Helms is a mommy of one...soon to be two kiddos. But, watch out, Helms is not your typical mommy blogger! Rather, Helms relays her tales of men (maybe that should be boys), crazy adventures, life before mommyhood and how she got to where she is today. She also shows off her very cute daughter and talks about current life events. Overall, I think she describes herself the best: "wife, mom and snark." So, if you are in for some good stories, this is the blog for you.

Wherever Launa Goes, There She Is

Name of Blog: Wherever Launa Goes, There She Is

Name of Blogger: Launa

Blogging since: August 2009

Number of followers today: 44

Average number of ppm (posts per month): 15-20

What the Blog is about: Launa quit her job as a school adminstrator in Brooklyn, packed up her husband and two girls, and moved to the south of France for nine months.  She discusses her goals for their family sabbatical, and the challenge of letting go of some of those goals.  If that isn't enough to suck you in, she writes like an smart, observant angel; describing the cultural differences between France and America, how her travel style differs from that of her husband, and the ways each of her daughters experience living abroad. Oh, and there's food porn.

Her writing would fit comfortably in the pages of any decent travel magazine, or even the New Yorker.  Start at the first post in August of 2009 and keep reading.  Launa will be returning to America soon, and her first order of business should be putting together a book proposal from her wonderful blog.
